Of course he has good intentions. Nobody wakes up one day and decides "hey I feel like being evil." [except yes they do. Robin's met some weird people.] Good intentions can go wrong.

What guarantee do you have that he won't go rogue? What if he decides the best way to think of others is to start murdering people he doesn't like?

Young Avengers don't kill. I know for a fact that he'd rather die than hurt or kill anyone. [And there's truth in that; Billy had almost done that during the draft, when he asked Loki to kill him. Teddy would've done the same thing if it had happened to him.]

I know him a lot better than you do, and I know he'd never go down that path. Just like you wouldn't.

Not even by accident?

[It's a test. He's looking for some reaction. Have accidents happened before, Teddy?]

[So far? No. The only accidents he'd ever witnessed were when Billy was first starting out, newly discovering his powers and not quite getting a hold of them. And they never killed anyone; they were just little blunders in his magic.

So, Teddy shakes his head.]

His power relies on control and concentration. A lot of concentration. You don't cause accidents when you're completely focused on what you're doing.

[And after a pause:] What's got you so interested in Billy, anyway?

I've got my reasons to be curious about the company he keeps. [And he's not sharing them.]

You don't have to protect him, you know. Nothing good'll come from keeping the important things to yourself.

[He knows there's something Billy doesn't want him to know. And this conversations' welcome to keep going in circles until he gets a clue as to what that thing might be.]

[Teddy looks up at him again, a look of exasperation on his face. But, after a moment of silence, he raises his eyebrows.]

You're Dick, right? [It's what Billy said, and now Teddy can see it too.]

[fdshjkghdjk FANBOYS. ALWAYS. ALWAYS THE FANBOYS.]

I don't know anyone by that name.

[It is a damn good thing Teddy is a master at the poker face, because otherwise he would've burst out laughing. God, this is totally Dick. His favorite Robin. And here he is being interrogated by him and he even got punched by him.

If Billy wouldn't freak about it, Teddy would keep that bruise on his face forever.

But no. Teddy keeps his eyebrows raised, then gives a one-shouldered shrug, though he can't help letting a little smile come across his lips.]

Fair enough. But look. You've got me tied up, and you've got the power cap running full force here. You punched me in the face, which still hurts. And you're asking me to tell you all the important things about Billy, when you're not going to tell me why you want to know, nor what is so important.

Can you blame me for not answering your questions the way you want me to?

[WHAT NO. There is absolutely nothing that would identify him as Dick. He's not that sloppy. His identity is safe, damn it. SAFE.]

It's not your business to know why I'm interested in him. I'm interested. And if you want to get out of here anytime soon, you'll stop trying to be funny. This isn't a game. Your boyfriend's hiding something and we're going to be here until you tell me what it is.

[It's okay Dick your secret is totally safe with Teddy.]

... Or until Billy finds me which, depending on what time it is, could be any minute now. And then you can ask him what it is.

[THERE'S NOTHING TO BE SAFE WITH HIM BECAUSE NO SECRET WAS SHARED.]

Is that a threat?

[YEAH UH-HUH. And gosh Robin must everything Teddy does and say be a threat to you]

No, I'm just stating a fact. I've got a date [read: mission] with him, and he'll look for me if I'm late. And he's good at finding me.

[GENERALLY YES but oops if I used that tag earlier in this thread I think I might have.]

Then I'll handle it when it happens. You're changing the subject.

[Teddy glances upward, his lips pursing. So maybe he is stalling a little, but honestly, he doesn't know what Robin is talking about. That's the problem with boyfriends who never keep secrets from each other; Teddy isn't sure what Billy has deemed worth opening up about and what he should keep hidden. Save for several things, but those are things Teddy isn't willing to share unless Billy is actually, you know, okay with it.]

Not really. We are still talking about Billy...

[And almost immediately after:] Before you punch me again, maybe you should just tell me what you suspect and make this easier for both of us, otherwise I'm just going to guess at things like Billy being a light sleeper.

[teenwonder]

[It's good that Teddy backpedaled so quickly; Robin was about to resort to leaving a matching bruise on the other side of his face. This lack of cooperation thing was really becoming an annoyance.]

I suspect that he's up to something. That he's getting in over his head and that it's going to devour him. I want to step in before that can happen.

So far, you're not helping.

[Both eyebrows raise again. Hmm. Billy getting over his head? Well, he does tend to do that sometimes. And so does Teddy. But here and now?]

Okay. What makes you think he's getting in over his head? [See, we can actually GET somewhere like this.]

He's got a lot of respect for Loki, don't you think?

[There's no real change to Teddy's expression, even though his thoughts suddenly start to run too fast for him to handle and he feels as if someone just dropped a ball of ice down his throat. The most that he does, however, is slowly fist his hands and wish that he could get out of these binds already.

Yes. He's noticed. After all, Teddy didn't approve whatsoever of Billy having Loki as a mentor, despite trusting his reasons and knowing that Loki has extensive knowledge of magic. But he worries, silently. Worries that Loki will want the vast potential that Billy has, worries that his magic will completely consume the one person he has left, worries and can't do anything except take what updates he can from Billy.

But hell if he'll tell anyone else this. Because in the end, it's Billy's decision, and he trusts him with this. He wasn't lying to Billy when he told him that he had a good heart, something that not even Magneto or Mephisto could touch. He's sure Loki can't touch it, either.

Besides, if he tells anyone, they'll want to stop it, and Teddy doesn't want to stop him genuinely wanting to learn how to control that massive power of his either. It's just...

It's a little terrifying.

But he'd be a pretty terrible boyfriend if he confided in someone like Robin about it. So, all he does is keep both eyebrows raised.]

Why, does he talk to you about him? [Or does Robin stalk him? He wouldn't be surprised, knowing Robin.]
