[So she didn't hear wrong. As much as she hoped she did. When Luke apologizes, Noel falls silent, her eyes choosing to prefer to stare at the flooring rather than... than the sad truth she saw when laid over Luke's already frail state.

He's... dying?] No... No way...

[Barely whispered. The sheer shock of the news is enough to make her in fact not burst into tears, as much as she feels like she would any other time. Her friend was dying, and she didn't even know.]

[He just turns his head away, cheek against the cushion of the couch, and keeps silent.

This is the part he hates. Having a friend know, having them react that way, having them suddenly see him as a ticking clock rather than a normal person. Knowing they'll look at him differently, treat him differently, wanting to keep him in their lives as much as they can despite the fact that he's happy where he is now. Even Xion is doing it, despite her saying she wouldn't. It's the little things that Luke notices.
