[And just like that, those protective instincts she so often tried to bury alongside her emotions are brought up in full force, carrying her closer to the fallen boy while her eyebrows furrow into an expression of genuine concern. Once she is close enough she kneels down, still within arm's reach of him but allowing for the small boy to keep his distance if he so desired, even though she wished to help wipe away his tears. The first word he had uttered was muddled, there was little doubt about who he was calling out for.]

It's all right, don't be so scared. [While she was by no means Suzanne, Luke's mother had trusted her to watch out for him and act as his elder sister on her behalf when he needed it, and that was she intended to do now.] I want to help you, will you allow me to do that?

[The sight of Tear so close to him makes Luke let out a cry of alarm and push himself backwards, enough so he's sitting rather than on his hands and knees, and he turns away as much as he can while hiding his face in his arms. He doesn't answer, for he'd much rather her actually go away than do anything else. Though, if she kept talking, he might calm down eventually.]

[Okay, so getting this close was a bad idea and she wouldn't be pushing it any further if he was this frightened of her. But she can't just leave him alone because he was scared, not when it was so obvious that he needed someone to care for him.]

Please... You're looking for your mother, right? I can try to help you if you let me.

[There's a few words that make him open his eyes, raise his head and look towards her. He's still curled up, and his hands have turned into fists, but...]

There's something about this woman that makes him feel... better. Safe. Almost happy, in a sense. It isn't her eyes or familiarity or anything. It's just... something about her.

His hands loosen, even as he breaks eye contact to stare at the ground and nod. He still wants to find his mother... But he doesn't mind doing so with this woman.]
