1sentence challenge/headcanon ficbits ; TEDDY ALTMAN
Theme set: Gamma
1. Ring
He went to Jared, searching through rows upon rows of rings and wondering if Billy even liked flashy rings, when he realized that he was an idiot for thinking that anything but the One Ring of Power would suffice for a promise ring.
2. Hero
Even when Teddy is smashed through the wall of a building, and he's hunched over and clearing dust from his throat and trying not to cry out from the bones in his shoulder mending together once more, all he can think of is that he loves being a super hero.
3. Memory
He picks up the knife and tastes blood at the back of his throat as the warden cuts into his stomach, taunts him and makes him wish he was dead, and then the knife clatters to the plate as familiar-safe hands find their way to his shoulders, the Kaplans are asking if he's all right and he finds that he can't even breathe.
4. Box
"Till death do us part," he'd said, but now as he kneels in front of the love of his life and reaches for the little box in his pocket, he wants to make it official.
5. Run
Teddy used to be the fastest third grader in his class, but when a group of kids who lost a race claimed that he was cheating and threatened to tell the teacher, he was suddenly the third-fastest instead.
6. Hurricane
Winds whipped through his wings and spun him around and around as he fell through the air, unable to get his bearings back, and even when it all stopped thanks to blue magic and a relieved smile, Teddy realized he was still falling and didn't want to stop this time.
7. Wings
The first time Teddy tries to use his wings, he'd made them too large, and after he's done flying much too high in a wide somersault, flailing his arms and landing flat on his face, he isn't so sure if this is such a good idea anymore.
8. Cold
Teddy never liked the cold until he realized that it was the perfect excuse to share his scarf and walk much closer than necessary with his boyfriend.
9. Red
Teddy is glad that Billy has a cape that sets him apart from everything else; it certainly helps when his eyes are darting frantically around the battlefield and easily find the red against black that he'd lost sight of earlier.
10. Drink
His mother had considered coffee a gift from the heavens and didn't seem to realize that it wasn't suited for a child until well after Teddy started drinking it alongside her, thinking the very same thing about the drink.
11. Midnight
He wakes up late at night and for a moment he thinks it's his mother who's smoothing his hair back after such a nightmare, but his nightmare had come true a while ago; his mother was dead, and it wasn't her who's slowly woken him from his slumber, but Billy's mother.
12. Temptation
Teddy had always been proud of his self-control, as most teens were riddled with the lack of it and he'd never seemed to have a problem with it, but now, even knowing that Billy's family could be home any time now, he throws control completely out the window as he kisses down his boyfriend's stomach towards newly discovered territory.
13. View
The view isn't much to look at; the buildings are so tall that it chokes everything out, including the potential stars he's looking at, and the lights aren't much of a replacement for them, but he realizes that that, along with the fact that practically no one can find him up here, is about how he feels right now.
18. Dream
The first nightmare he had after his mother's death was actually a happy dream: she'd cheerfully woken him up and pulled his head down to kiss the top of it when he clawed himself out of the covers like a hibernating bear, and then Billy was the one waking him up instead and the bliss inside him shattered all too quickly.
19. Candle
Teddy would've thought that he was completely alone in the world, sitting there in the empty room that was once his mother's with a lone candle in memorium on the floor, if his boyfriend hadn't quietly sat beside him with a candle of his own.
23. Fire
Teddy used to like fire, but now as he stares miserably into the flames of the fireplace and forces himself to listen to the crackling of the logs, all he can hear is a woman screaming in pain and himself crying out for her in despair.
25. Mask
Teddy always wore masks in the past - this one was for Greg, this one was for Mrs. Grimes the councelor, this one was for the girls who giggled shyly at him; but then Billy Kaplan came into his life, and he left all of his masks in a dark corner of his mind when he smiled for the first time in a very long time and took his hand.

5. Potatoes
"Po-ta-toes," he stresses quietly when Nathan asks yet again what french fries are made out of (to think there are none in that century, it's almost sacrilege), and for half a second he's afraid no one will get the reference and he's just totally embarrassed himself in front of his team, but then Billy's hunched over and laughing so hard that he's wheezing for air, and Teddy finds himself completely ignoring Nathan's lost look and Eli's raised eyebrow.
10. Ears
"I'm thinking about getting them pierced," Teddy muses to his mom while looking at his reflection and running his thumb along the shell of his ear, and elation fills his chest like a balloon when he realizes that it's the first time he wants to alter his appearance for his own sake rather than anyone else's.
44. Heaven
Heaven is grasping each other while heroes try to recover from a war that tore them apart and cleaning the world that crumbled before them, because Billy is here, they're okay, and everything that led to this is the best thing to ever happen to him.
45. Hell
Hell is sitting in his room while Greg asks if he's going to sell those action figures and he has to lie and say yes, because he's lying to everyone and himself again, he isn't okay, and everything that led to this is the worst thing to ever happen to him.
